Getting the right people- Effective Recruitment and Selection

Recruiting the right people into the right jobs is crucial if they are to make a positive impact in the role, in the team, and on your services. Getting it wrong can be costly in many ways. This session aims to enhance your skills and promote best practice at every stage of the recruitment and selection procedure, from analysing the job, through to advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and induction.

We’ll also raise awareness of legal responsibilities and equalities best practice. It is aimed at managers, supervisors, Board / management committee members, or anyone else involved in recruiting paid staff.

The day will include trainer input, group work and case studies.

Trainer

The trainer is Linden Stables. Linden developed and manages the GCVS Employers’Advice Service, providing advice, training and consultancy on employment issues to voluntary, community and social economy organisations across Scotland.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

YES. Please ensure that you bring your Eventbrite ticket with you to the event.

Are refreshments provided?

Free tea and coffee is provided at breaks and water dispensers are available. Lunch is also included in the price.

Where can I park?

Pay and display parking bays are plentiful around the Albany. Note that parking is for a max of 3 hours and then you will need to move your car. As this can be disruptive during a full day course you may wish to consider using public transport instead.

The Albany is conveniently situated for St George’s Cross Subway station and Charing Cross railway station. There is metered on-street parking outside the building. See the GCVS website for transport details here.

Is the venue accessible?

The Albany is fully accessible with ramp access, lifts and accessible toilets on each floor.

What’s the refund policy?

You can get a full refund if you cancel the booking no less than seven days before the event.,Cancellations after that will be not be eligible for a refund. Partial refunds may be given at the discretion of GCVS.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferable?

You can arrange for someone else to attend the event in your place.
