Health and Social Care

Health and Social Care has been a priority for GCVS in recent years. From helping develop policy on reshaping the care system, to health and social care integration and addressing the impact of the COVID pandemic. Policy and reform matters to the third sector and the people and families we serve.

Living independently and living well, tackling isolation, connecting communities and helping people to reach their full potential, should be at the heart of health and care. These goals drive our sector’s activity in the social care ‘space’.

As we address the likelihood of further reform, GCVS has created a health and care team to focus on this important policy and service delivery priority, ensuring our sector is at the heart of local and national work.

Our work

The Health and Care team works with statutory organisations to ensure that third sector experience and expertise helps shape health and care planning and delivery in Glasgow – and nationally, where appropriate.

We are working with charities, voluntary organisations and community groups to ensure that they, and the people they support, are at the heart of important programmes and developments; such as Maximising Independence, Mental Health Services, COVID recovery and other work.

We work to develop events and information sessions relevant to the third sector and its work as it relates to health and care delivery and aim to keep colleagues across sectors up to date with important information and research.
