Health and Social Care
Health and Social Care has been a priority for GCVS over the last few years – from Reshaping Care, to health and social care integration and now, as we consider the future of health and care and come to terms with the impact of the COVID pandemic.
Health and social care policy and reform matter to the third sector and the people and families we serve. Living independently and living well, tackling isolation, connecting to communities and helping people to reach their full potential should be at the heart of health and care. These goals drive the voluntary and community sector’s activity in the social care “space”.
As we face the likelihood of further reform, GCVS has set up a health and care team to focus on this important policy and service delivery priority, to ensure our sector is at the heart of local and national work.
The Health and Care team works with statutory organisations to ensure that third sector experience and expertise helps to shape health and care planning and delivery in Glasgow – and nationally, where appropriate.
We are working with charities, voluntary organisations and community groups to ensure that they and the people they support are at the heart of important programmes and developments such as Maximising Independence, Mental Health Services, COVID recovery and other work.
We work to develop events and information sessions relevant to the third sector and its work as it relates to health and care delivery and aim to keep colleagues across sectors up to date with important information and research.
