Notre Dame Children’s Centre is a well-established, not for profit organisation that has been operational in Glasgow since 1931. The service was originally founded in response to the needs of very vulnerable children and families experiencing extreme poverty and deprivation.
We provide assessment and ongoing weekly therapeutic support to children aged 5 to 18 years, who have experienced trauma, neglect or abuse. This is carried out via psychological assessment, and through non-directive play therapy, as well as a variety of recognised psychological approaches involving both the child and parent or carer.
The ultimate goal of our service is to enable the child to lead a normal, safe and fulfilling life, free from trauma and abuse and to enable their carers to support them to do so.
The organisation has undergone a significant period of development both in our impact and having recently relocated to new premises in Possilpark in the North of Glasgow. We now employ a team of 18 staff in order to deliver a service across Glasgow and surrounding areas.
To further support this growth we wish to appoint new Board Members to provide oversight/governance and seek applicants who understand the issues affecting vulnerable children and families, who have good independent judgement and the ability to work as part of a diverse team.
We hold bi-monthly Board meetings and the Charity is particularly interested in candidates who bring significant experience in the following areas:
- Legal Expertise
- Therapeutic/Psychological Support
- Children/Youth Work
We are committed to equal opportunities and diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Applicants are asked to submit a C.V. and covering letter detailing their interest and suitability for the role. Informal enquiries initially to Margaret Brown, Head of Centre on 0141 339 2366
