The COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills helps participants build effective and structured counselling skills, which can be used in a variety of workplaces (nursing, health professionals, teaching, care work or social work etc). The course is also an excellent first step for anyone wishing to train as a counsellor. Along with skills and awareness, the course covers the theory behind different approaches to counselling (such as person-centred, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic) as well as the ethics required for good practice. Awarded 40 credits at SCQF level 8, the course has 4 modules, each lasting 5 days (30 hours) with training days fortnightly (approx). Participants who have previously completed modules elsewhere can join the course on later modules, subject to places being available.
