The Tackling Fraud Together team are still concentrating our efforts in the West of Glasgow this month – we’re hoping the weather clears up slightly so our flyering around Partick and Finnieston might not be quite such a soggy job!

We hope you’ve been finding our updates useful and that they help you look out for fraud. It really can happen to anyone and so it’s always good to be on your guard if you receive a suspicious phone call, email or letter.

Fraud Headlines

Fraud Gang Posed as Police and Bank Staff

  • One man who was part of the gang admitted to scamming people out of thousands of pounds, including an 88-year-old victim who was conned out of over £6,000!

Solar Panel Gang Scammed 1500 ‘Mainly Vulnerable and Elderly’ Customers Out of £17 Million

  • The gang are said to have spent their ill-gotten gains on trips to Switzerland and Italy via private jet, and expensive sports cars!

New Bank Scheme Prevents £1.5 Million Fraud in Scotland

  • It’s not all bad news this month, thankfully! Thanks to the Banking Protocol, where bank staff can alert police to potential victims of scams, arrests of fraudsters have already been made!
