Data Sharing Framework

Collaboration between organisations often requires information about people to be shared across organisations. When sharing such personal data, we have a moral and legal obligation to have a legitimate reason for sharing, and to take precautions with the security and integrity of the data.
Any two organisations sharing data should have a data sharing agreement in place. This covers key information about what data will be shared and on what basis.
The Glasgow Data Sharing Framework has been introduced as part of our work to improve collaboration between public and voluntary sector organisations.
Organisations working with Glasgow City Council are able to put an appropriate agreement in place, having a standard framework that has been checked by both Council and GCVS lawyers.
To use the framework, third sector organisations must both:
- a) join the framework, and
- b) agree a specific data sharing agreement with a Council department.
To find out more, please read the GCVS and GCC Data Sharing Agreement here.
