Behind every person with alcohol and drug problems there is  a family.  Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs provides support to concerned significant others affected by the problematic substance use of a relative or loved one and raises awareness of the issues affecting them.  We offer families a variety of support services including a  national helpline, peer support groups, sessional training opportunities and  community engagement activities to help families cope with their loved one’s substance use, rebuild relationships and improve their wellbeing.

The organisation has undergone a significant period of  development both growing in our impact and our remit and now employs a team of  16 staff in order to deliver a comprehensive national programme.  To  support this growth there are opportunities for individuals with relevant  expertise to sit on our Board of Trustees.  We are looking for applicants that have skills/expertise in the following areas: Human Resources, Business Experience and/or Management Experience.

We are looking for national representation across Scotland and we are keen to reflect as broadly as possible the communities and cultures  represented in family life in Scotland.

Our Board meetings rotate throughout Scotland and we would expect a minimum commitment of 20hrs per year.  All Board members must  meet OSCR requirements- please visit www.oscr.org.uk for more information.

Positions are voluntary and unpaid.  Reasonable  expenses will be reimbursed.  Applicants are asked to submit a C.V. and  covering letter detailing their interest and suitability for the role.
