Voluntary sector organisations face multiple pressures from many angles and are up against a competitive funding landscape that is stretched to the limit. While having various income streams in your fundraising plan is essential, searching for grant funding is often a regular fundraiser activity.
At GCVS, we support Glasgow’s voluntary sector communities as much as we can in whatever ways we can. That’s why, funded through our membership programme, we are delighted to provide access to GCVS Open 4 Community GrantFinder. This tool will give you access to a wealth of funding opportunities, all through an easy-to-use database which hosts grants of all sizes, from hyper-local to global.

What is Open 4 Community GrantFinder?
GrantFinder is a powerful funding database used by professional fundraisers and organisations across the UK. It provides up-to-date information on a vast range of grantmakers with opportunities to find local, national, and international funding sources. It is supplied by Idox plc, in Reading near London.
The Open 4 Community service is driven by the GrantFinder database. This more user-friendly version empowers charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises to search for Government, Lottery and charitable trust funding. The service also provides access to various related information, resources and advice.

Who is it for?
The GCVS contract with Open 4 Community permits access for community groups, voluntary organisations, registered charities and social enterprises with annual income or turnover less than £1M. Our system will only allow access to organisations with a Glasgow postcode. If you do not have a registered office in Glasgow, please get in touch with us for assistance.
Access is not permitted for commercial organisations or individuals. Organisations with annual income greater than £1M cannot access the system.
Access to the system is permitted by the staff team at Idox, with use closely monitored and reviewed regularly by GCVS. Full terms and conditions are available from the registration page.
How does it work?
Access the system online here, through our website.
First-time users will be asked to go through a registration process by providing contact information. Details will be checked externally by Idox, who will reply with an email to confirm or deny entry.
The system contains information on literally thousands of grant funding opportunities, and most will be irrelevant to Glasgow organisations. Therefore, users must enter search criteria to reduce the list of potential grantmakers and identify the most relevant opportunities.
For tips on using the system, visit Eventbrite to sign up to our informal session on 22 June where our funding officer will be available for advice and to answer your questions.
If you need help using the system or advice on applying for grants, don’t hesitate to contact our Funding Advice Officer June for support. Please also visit our Funding and Fundraising page for more help and advice.
