A recent event held by GCVS brought charities and community groups from Glasgow and a Government Minister together to talk about the many causes of loneliness and isolation.

The event heard from Christina McKelvie MSP, Minister for Older People and Equalities who outlined the visions and intentions behind “A Connected Scotland”, a cross portfolio strategy on isolation.  She then spent time discussing the main causes of isolation with over 50 charities and community groups. Groups also identified the changes needed to ensure the third sector can continue to build relationships and help people from all backgrounds build connections and get back into their communities.

A report of the event is available here.  For more information or if you have ideas about future events or actions we can take to do more on this important agenda, please contact Lynn Williams on lynn.william@gcvs.org.uk.
