WCVSN are looking for a passionate and committed voluntary sector worker, who works with communities in the Anderson/City ward, to take on the role of substitute voluntary sector representative on the Anderston/City Area Partnership.

If you are interested in standing or would like to nominate or vote in this election, it is essential that your organisation is listed on the Electoral Register.

The electoral register, instructions on how to check the register for your organisation and what to do if you aren’t listed, can be found below.

Given the very local focus of the Area Partnerships there are some criteria for organisations’ involvement. Please read the full criteria, to ensure your organisation is able to participate.

It is the responsibility of each organisation to check the register for their own listing and to notify WCVSN if they are missing and would like to be added.

If you think there is an organisation missing and you think they should be included, please pass on this information.

The Electoral Register will close on Friday 13th February. You will not be able to stand, nominate or vote in the elections if your organisation is not listed on the Electoral Register by that date.

A little bit more about Area Partnerships and what it means to be voluntary sector representative

Anderston/City Area Partnership is the local CPP partnership structure for the neighbourhoods of Townhead, Anderston, Garnethill, Merchant City and the city centre.

Area Partnerships, are the local Community Planning structures in the city. They bring together local councillors, community residents, and a representative each from Police, Fire, the CHP and Third Sector to jointly work together on addressing local issues.

The sub will support the current rep, Kathleen Richardson, from WEA. The role of substitute is an active one. It’s not just about filling in when the rep can’t attend. We want you to work closely with the rep and Development Officer to ensure that the sector are making as an effective contribution as possible. You will attend pre-meetings, attend partnership meetings, help to identify key issues for groups in the area and help engage with local organisations.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Works in the sector and understands the strengths and challenges
  • Knows at least one neighbourhood in the Anderston/City ward well and understands the issues for the voluntary sector and the community in that area
  • Wants to works as part of a team in trying to ensure that the views and voices of local groups and the local community are heard and represented at meetings.

Nominations will open on Friday 13th February and full paperwork will be available then.

Please remember you must be on the Electoral Register to participate. It is your responsibility to check the register and to notify WCVSN if you are missing and would like to be added. The Register will close on Friday 13th February.
