The Scottish Government has announced that it will continue to fund the Independent Living Fund which was due to be closed in June 2015.  The UK Government’s ending of the scheme, which has been closed to new entrants since 2012, was met with dismay when announced, however, the Scottish Government intends to safeguard the support of the 3000 disabled people who benefit from the scheme and reopen it to new users in 2015, investing an additional £5.5m in the fund on top of the existing package.
