REHIS Elementary Certificate in Health & Safety

This one-day course leads to a nationally recognised and respected certificate suitable for people at all levels within organisations that need a basic understanding of health and safety issues as they affect the workplace.

The syllabus covers the following in brief:

• General background on health and safety in the UK today
• Definition of terms
• Overview of the law and legal duties of employers and employees
• Explanation of risk assessment
• Description of the main requirements of:
  • Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations
  • Safety Sign legislation
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations
  • Display Screen Equipment & Noise at Work Regulations
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
  • Manual Handling Operations Regulations
  • Electricity at Work Regulations
  • RIDDOR
  • Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations

• Preventing fire and escape from fire
• Appropriate measures for the prevention of slips, trips and falls

To receive the REHIS certificate the participants must attend for the full duration of the course, at the end of the day sit a 30 question multiple choice paper set by REHIS and achieve at least 18 correct responses to the 30 questions set.
