The Scottish Government recently published a comprehensive, thoughtful strategy looking at how we tackle social isolation and loneliness.
This is increasingly recognised as a significant public health challenge – tackling loneliness is also a bread an butter issue for charities and community groups in the City of Glasgow. Many groups are at risk of isolation – unpaid carers, people with disabilities, lone parents and people in poverty to name but a few.
We are delighted that the Minister leading on the strategy, Christina McKelvie MSP, has agreed to attend this event which will update third sector colleagues on the Government’s strategy on isolation, giving a key note speech, take questions and spend time meeting attendees who are working to tackle loneliness in Glasgow. Christina is the Minister for Older People and Equalities.
A detailed agenda to follow – book now for a place as this will be a popular session.
