CALL FOR BOARD NOMINATIONS 2017
We will hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday 8 December 2017 at 9.30am in The Albany Centre, 44 Ashley Street, Glasgow, G3 6DS.
We are seeking to appoint 3 new Member Directors to join our Board at this AGM.
Full Members of GCVS are invited to submit Board Nominations by Monday 4 December 2017. Please note only one nomination can be received from each organisation and new Directors will be appointed at the AGM.
Continued austerity and major funding cuts to public service budgets mean that Glasgow, and in particular our sector, will face real challenges over the next 3 years. In our 2017 Manifesto for Change, produced after in-depth consultation with our members, we identified the vital need for Glasgow City Council and other agencies to form new, more equal and dynamic working relationships with Glasgow’s Third Sector, to support and enable us to contribute more effectively.
Now, with a Third Sector Summit on the horizon and a new Partnership Agreement between GCC and Glasgow’s Third Sector Interface being prepared, GCVS are entering a new and important phase of development. To support this activity and set out our plans for the coming 3 years GCVS we entering a phase of Strategy Development and Business Planning.
We would welcome applications from Board members who have the expertise and enthusiasm to actively contribute to shaping and delivering our plans. We need our Board members to reflect the diversity, range and breadth of experience within the sector, people who can support us make our services and the work we do as accessible, relevant and effective as possible, across the whole sector.
GCVS Board members will serve for a period of 3 years, attending up to 5 Board Meetings per year and may also be asked to contribute to ad-hoc working groups and advisory groups.
New Board members will be led through our comprehensive induction process, enabling them to quickly become familiar with our structures and staff teams, our current workload and the policy environment in which we operate, as well as the influences affecting the sector in Glasgow and Scotland.
Is there someone in your organisation, perhaps an office bearer on your Board or someone within your senior management team, who would relish this position?
Nomination forms can be found here and all completed forms must be returned by Monday 4 December, addressed to:
Membership Services, GCVS,

Each prospective Board member will be invited to address the GCVS members at the AGM prior to the membership vote. We are currently finalising plans for this year’s supporting programme – more information on this to follow.
