Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS) is a dynamic and forward-thinking voluntary sector development agency which provides information, advice, training and practical, professional support to 1,000 voluntary and community groups in Glasgow. As well as being a key part of the Glasgow Third Sector Interface, we coordinate the voluntary sector’s input to policy and planning and work in strategic partnerships with all the major players in regeneration, health, learning and economic development within Glasgow.
We are now looking to recruit for the following post:
Job Title: Community Connectors Volunteer Coordinator
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Salary: Grade 6, points 31- 34 £25,945 – £28,260
Term: Fixed term to end of March 2019
Location: Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector
Working collaboratively with the citywide and local Community Connectors teams, the post holder will take a lead role in supporting the area teams to develop ‘buddy’ schemes where older people can volunteer to accompany other older people to activities or services to help them to settle in.
The post holder will also be responsible for providing support and guidance to the local Community Connector teams to map, promote and link older people to appropriate volunteering opportunities within their local communities.
The Volunteer Coordinator will have regular contact with the programme volunteers and third sector organisations offering volunteering positions to ensure older people are being matched with the right opportunities for them. They will coordinate training, learning and briefing sessions and develop a volunteer polices to make sure the teams processes adhere to best practice..
