Glasgow City Council’s Community Support for Stalled Spaces initiative aims to:

  • Create opportunities for groups and organisations to carry out initiatives which improve the quality of the local environment on stalled development sites.
  • Enhance the local environment through short, medium or long-term sustainable initiatives to their local area.
  • Have a positive impact on the appearance of the area; improve access to or use of facilities by local people.
  • Engage and involve local people in making a difference in their neighbourhood.

Grants of £2,500 are available to not-for-profit community and voluntary organisations based in Glasgow for projects that focus on the following key areas:

  • Registered Vacant and Derelict Land – sites that are recorded on the Scottish Vacant and Derelict Land Register.
  • Land earmarked for development but stalled.
  • Underutilised open space.

Eligible costs include purchasing equipment or materials; and sessional fees for work that needs to be done on a site.

Priority will be given to applications for improvements to sites (rather than from organisations) which have not received financial support from Glasgow City Council in previous years. Applications for sites which have received Community Support for Stalled Spaces in previous years will be considered but will not be given priority over applications for new sites.

The next deadline for applications is 7 September 2015.
