The Glasgow Compact
In June 2007, Glasgow Community Planning Partnership (GCPP) approved the development of a compact for the city.
A final agreement should be in placeduring 2008. This significant achievement will raise the profile of the sector and ensure that its role in supporting healthy and vibrant communities in the city is fully acknowledged.
What is a Compact?
Quite simply, a Compact is a framework for partnership working between public agencies and the voluntary and community sector.
What difference will it make?
Over time a Compact can be crucial in
- fostering trust and respect between organisations;
- increased understanding of roles and structures; and
- transparent decision-making processes among partners.
Who is involved?
There is work to be done on developing and running with the Glasgow Compact for everyone.
An implementation group has been set up to oversee the development phase and co-ordinate the impact to the Compact of the voluntary sector and key public sector agencies.
