This SVQ is based on standards developed by the NTO for Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations. The NTO for Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations represent a wide variety of people working in a broad range of occupations within the sport, recreation and allied occupations industry.
Please note that the body responsible for developing the standards on which the SVQ is based may alter owing to the emergence of the Sector Skills Councils network. For details on Sector Skills Councils please contact the SQA Accreditation Unit on SSC Information.
Ofsted requires someone with a Level 3 Playwork qualification to be on the premises in a playwork setting attended by children under 8 years old.
Mandatory Units
Candidates must complete all of these units:
- Contribute to Improving Personal and Organisational Performance
- Develop Opportunities in the Community
- Work with Colleagues in a Team
- Administer Provision
- Promote Children's Development through Play
- Promote Positive Relationships in the Play Environment
- Provide a Child Centre Environment
- Promote and Maintain the Health and Safety of Children
- Contribute to the Protection of Children from Abuse
Optional Units
Candidates must also complete two of the following units, in addition to the mandatory units:
- Support the Efficient Use of Resources
- Lead the Work of Teams and Individuals to Achieve Their Objectives
- Contribute to the Development of Teams and Individuals
- Contribute to the Selection of Personnel for Activities
- Manage Information for Action
- Contribute to Marketing, Developing and Promoting Services
- Organise Travel for Participants and Equipment
- Provide Emergency Aid
- Look after Participants who are Away from Home
- Contribute to Children's Health and Well-being
