The Fund aims to create 150,000 jobs. 100,000 will be aimed at 18-24 year olds who have been out of work for nearly a year. Future Jobs Fund forms part of the Young Person’s Guarantee. From early 2010, everyone between the ages of 18 and 24 who has been looking for work for a year will get an offer of a job, work experience, or training lasting at least 6 months. GCVS has secured a 6 month contract to ensure that 53 young people are assisted into employment within the sector.
Our role is to ensure that these jobs are relevant and contribute to the aims and objectives of the partner organisation. We will report this monitoring and claim information back to Glasgow Works and administrate payroll services to all people employed within this initiative. We will share information and guidance to all partner organisations and ensure that they are providing adequate support to their employees.
The impact on the sector is that it will enable an organization to recruit and employ a young person whose wages will be met by the Future Jobs Fund. We work alongside employers to ensure that each individual has a bespoke employability package encompassing such things as training, interview techniques and confidence building.
The aim of the FJF is to give a young person the confidence and skills to hold down a real job which pays at least minimum wage. It will help them to interact with other employees, building relationships and learning what is expected of them in the work place. These skills will provide the young person with the ability to become more socially active and more mobile within the jobs market ending their reliance on benefits.
If you'd like to participate in this exciting new program the first thing to do is contact us and we will email you a jobs template and some guidance on how to complete this. This job description will be listed in Job Centres throughout Glasgow. You will receive all applications and it will be up to you as to who you interview and when they start. All that we ask is that you keep us informed on progress of any recruitment. Successful recruitment will trigger a 40% payment which will be paid on receipt of all the relevant paperwork. Full details would be sent to you at the beginning of this process.
We should be in a position to start the new round of The Future Jobs Fund in April 2010.
