Glasgow has seen a record rise this year in the number of people becoming foster carers. 68 have been newly recruited by Glasgow City Council, the highest number in any year since the launch of the Council’s recruitment campaign in 2005. There are now over 500 foster carers registered by the Council, who look after some of the City’s most vulnerable children.
A celebration event in the Emirates Arena heard Council Leader Gordon Matheson, celebrate the contribution that foster carers make to keeping children safe, announcing a 2% rise in allowances, he said that,
“Glasgow is proud of the fact that it supports its vulnerable and it is only right that we increase the allowances we pay to foster carers to support the children in their care.”
