research imageWe ask our members and the wider sector about the issues affecting their organisations and service users. We use this valuable information to ensure the voice of Glasgow’s third sector is communicated to local and national policy makers and to enable third sector organisations and structures to influence policy.

Our work ranges from commissioned large scale research on the third sector’s contribution towards reshaping care for older people to smaller surveys and consultations on key issues, including concessionary rents and the impact of recession.  Through our Everyone’s Children project, we recently undertook a major piece of research into the work in the sector to support children and families and the implementation of the GIRFEC agenda.

Sharing Information

It is important to GCVS that the third sector benefits from any research undertaken and that organisations have the opportunity to influence broader agendas via the shaping of critical research questions. In promoting this approach we work with and support researchers from all sectors including the third and independent sectors, statutory, academic and government.

Infobase and Engage

GCVS’s on-going development and maintenance of Infobase provides a solid grounding for much of the research we carry out. Containing crucial information on over 1,500 third sector organisations operating in Glasgow, Infobase provides valuable data on the scale and scope of the sector.

Local third sector organisations and partners can access this Infobase data in more detail and generate their own Excel reports via the Engage resource. To find out more and register for a username and password email engage@gcvs.org.uk

Customised Research Reports

Third sector organisations and public sector partners can also request a customised research report from our research and policy team.  Please complete our report request form and email to Samira Adris.  if you have any questions please contact Samira on 041 332 2444.
