Glasgow’s citizens will lose an estimated £84m per year under the UK Government’s welfare reform plans. A report submitted to Glasgow City Council’s Operational Delivery Scrutiny this week demonstrates the expected losses to some of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
The report sets out what measures the council are taking to mitigate the impact of the reforms on the most vulnerable. Changes to the Local Housing Allowance alone will impact on 22,000 residents, who will lose an estimated £12m from the measure.
