Rosemount Announce New Employability Project - Royston at Work
GCVS Members, Rosemount (Workspace) are one of 6 organisations who have successfully secured £1,117,328 of Big Lottery funding for the Royston area.
Rosemount has been successful in securing funding of £152,069 from the BIG Lottery ‘Our Place’ Fund to run a 2 year employability project aimed at impacting on youth unemployment in Royston.
As first time applicants to the Big Lottery Fund they are absolutely delighted to receive this award. As well as enabling the organisation to diversify, develop and increase their capacity to impact on unemployment in the Royston community, it will give disadvantaged young people in Royston the opportunity to improve their chances in today’s highly competitive employment market.
In partnership with North Glasgow College, Glasgow Regeneration Agency (North), Royston Youth Action and Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre, 24 young people in Royston will undertake an enhanced version of the Targeted Pathway to Apprenticeship (TPA) programme, unique to Royston’s young people.
The project will provide opportunity for young people to participate in a programme of activities that will lead to a qualification in a National Progression Award in Construction, covering trades such as carpentry, painting & decorating, plumbing, electrical, brickwork and plastering. It will also include working towards achieving a CSCS card (site safety), accreditation in PASMA (scaffold tower training), Asbestos safety awareness and a Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.
They will shortly be advertising for a new Project Co-ordinator with a view to commencing induction to the programme in April 2011. Referrals to the project can be made by individuals, local schools, housing associations, youth groups and youth development agencies.
