GCPP Statement on Improving Futures Programme

GCVS has been asked, on behalf of Glasgow Community Planning Partnership,  to circulate the following information regarding the bidding process for Big Lottery Funds (Improving Futures Programme).

From: Glasgow Community Planning Partnership

We are submitting this statement as there appears to be some confusion around the bidding process for the Big Lottery Funds (Improving Futures Programme).

Organisations interested in bidding for the Big Lottery Fund's (BLF) Improving Futures programme should be clear on the following conditions which apply to the programme:

  • Expressions of interest must be from partnerships led by voluntary sector organisations, but those partnerships may include local authorities and other voluntary and public sector partners.
  • The focus of Improving Futures is on helping families where their oldest child is between 5-10 years of age.
  • No more than one expression of interest should be made per local authority area, and we are asking that Community Planning partnerships sign the form to indicate their support, thus ensuring appropriate dialogue and that proposals are additional and complementary to existing provision in your area.

The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest is 12 May 2011

In Glasgow, we are looking for this funding to consolidate some of the good work that is currently taking place in the city and build on this to provide the best possible support for vulnerable children and families. We want to develop a citywide partnership where we are all working to the same strategic approach to improve the futures of Glasgow's children.

Glasgow Community Planning Partnership (GCPP) will be required to sign-off the single expression of interest for the Glasgow local authority area, following consultation with the Childrens Services Executive Group. GCPP has initiated a dialogue with GCVS, Social Care Ideas Factory (SCIF) and a range of other third sector organisations to ensure that a robust partnership bid is developed from an early stage. GCPP will endorse a city wide bid that is developed following these discussions with third sector organisations and is unlikely to be in a position to support bids which do not meet the criteria and /or independently developed, unsolicited funding bids.
