GCVS Literacies

Low literacy and numeracy levels impact on every aspect of an individuals’ life - personal, family, work & community – and are associated with lack of qualifications, poor labour market experience and prospects, poorer health behaviour, and lower social and political participation.

The GCVS Literacies team provides a range of learning, development and mentoring support to a network of voluntary and community organisations delivering high quality services to adults, young people and families across Glasgow, helping to build their Literacies skills and to live full and active lives.

Our services include:

  • practitioner and organisational learning and development sessions focussing on Literacies specific and wider skills
  • a Voluntary Sector Literacies Network
  • a monthly newsletter keeping practitioners informed of local and national developments
  • access to learning resources,
  • seminars and events showcasing effective and innovative practice.
