Supporting & Supervising Staff
Cost: £145 members, £195 non-members.

This one day course is for anyone who is (or will be) responsible for managing staff. The training will particularly apply to Project Managers, Senior Workers, Development Workers, Project Officers, Team Leaders who are leading teams and setting up projects. The course is also particularly suitable for management committee members who are overseeing small organisations.

Aim:
To equip participants to act as supervisors to staff and to make more active use of supervision they receive.

Objectives:

  • To consider the meaning, purpose and function of supervision and support.
  • To examine different models for supervision.
  • To understand the contribution to good practice of supervision contracts and what these might contain.
  • To understand links between supervision and appraisal meetings and practice.
  • To understand the importance of good communications skills, be able to identify possible causes of poor performance and deal with problems that may arise in supervision.
  • To practice the essential skills needed by supervisors.
