Project Manager & Digital Engagement Officer | GCVS
Welcome to our third Tackling Fraud Together update! As mentioned in the last update, we’ve been re-distributing our leaflets and posters to local businesses in Glasgow to raise awareness of the project.
A huge thanks to those in Woodlands and Charing Cross who very helpfully took our leaflets in, we’re sure they’ll make a difference to people’s knowledge of the Action Fraud helpline and what to do if they think they’ve been scammed.
We were also really pleased to read this update from Outreach Solutions for potential partners, on the work being done by ourselves in Glasgow and others in Durham, Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire & Rutland.
They noted that the work done in Glasgow has seen a Return on Investment (ROI) of 8:1 – so for every £1 invested in our work, we have saved £8 of losses!
It’s good to know that our efforts are most definitely paying off and that those over 55 are a lot more savvy when it comes to protecting themselves against fraud!
- This shocking report shows just how easy it is for a scam being run by one person to affect so many others, and for such a lot of money!
- It’s not all bad news in the fraud world this month – the Advertising Standards Authority has slammed some of the worst ticket re-sale sites for their ‘outrageous fees’ they charge on top of already-inflated ticket prices.
- Another example of businesses falling victim to fraud in this sophisticated example in the North-East of Scotland.
