Monitoring Poverty and Social Exclusion in Scotland (September 2010)
This report, by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, is the 2010 edition of indicators of poverty and social exclusion in Scotland. It includes a broad review of relevant Scottish policy, using the framework of Achieving our Potential, the key Scottish policy document on poverty. Although Scotland entered the recession with lower unemployment and child poverty than England, it has fared worse since.
A project the Glasgow Centre for Population Health (GCPH) with support from Glasgow City Council, Glasgow's Community Planning Team, Community Safety Glasgow, Glasgow Life, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the International Futures Forum. The project has developed health and wellbeing indicators for Glasgow.
Poverty and Inequality Statistics 2009/10
In May 2011, the Scottish Government published estimated statistics of poverty and income inequality in Scotland. The estimates are used to monitor progress towards UK and Scottish Government targets to reduce poverty and income inequality.
Relative Poverty Across Scottish Local Authorities
August 2010: This publication presents, for the first time, official figures about the distribution of income and relative poverty across Scotland at local authority area level. It is the result of analytical work which has estimated relative poverty at an LA level by combining data from the Scottish Household Survey and Family Resources Survey.

Achieving Our Potential: A Framework to tackle poverty and income inequality in Scotland
This Framework has been developed in the context of the Scottish Government's overall commitment to equality and tackling discrimination.
The Framework does not exist in isolation. It complements the Early Years Framework, and Equally Well, the report of the Ministerial Taskforce on Health Inequalities. Together they form a coherent approach to addressing disadvantage in Scotland.
The Framework provides the context for future action while setting out some immediate steps. It sets out the ways in which the Scottish Government will support partners and strengthen the infrastructure necessary for successful action.
It also outlines the contribution needed from wider Scottish society.
The Framework builds on the good work already underway across Scotland and illustrates progress with actions in support of our shared objectives.It sets out further priorities to deliver improvement across four main areas:
Equality in the UK
On 9 February 2010, the think tank Demos published three reports suggesting Labour, Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats must all take equal responsibility in the fight against inequality in Britain. Citizens Advice Scotland released a report "Unfit for Purpose"
Financial Learning Online is a web-based resource for workers involved in supporting people aged 16+ to become more financially capable, and was launched in the spring of 2009. The Scottish Government is developing policy on financial capability and is keen to support practitioners.
