We are looking for volunteers to help launch the Community Connectors Buddying service: supporting older people and their carers.
Offering an opportunity to make a real difference, this role will provide you with new experiences, help you develop your skills and give you the satisfaction of seeing first-hand the impact you can make on someone’s life.
Community Connectors supports people to take positive steps to improve health and wellbeing, increase social interaction and enjoy more vibrant, independent lives and we are looking for ‘buddy’ volunteers to help us support them to achieve their goals. That might be as simple as helping build their confidence to travel on the bus again, to meet new people or even re-discover a long forgotten hobby. You will quickly build up a good relationship with them, accompany them to clubs or activities to help them settle in and feel more comfortable. The opportunities for new and interesting experiences are endless.
All it takes is a couple of hours of your time a week. You don’t need special skills, we will give you all the training and support that you need. All we ask is that you are friendly, reliable and have good communication skills.
Expenses: Travel expenses reimbursed with supporting receipts.
Training & Induction: training is provided to all volunteers prior to commencing role.
Support: Data Protection, Dementia Awareness, Equality & Diversity, One to One Support.
Commitment: Minimum 2 hours per week, flexible to suit.
Requirement: Age 18 or over; complete a simple volunteer application form (support available if required); attend informal recruitment session, provide a reference; Complete PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Form
