Learning at the Albany
The Albany Centre's main purpose is to serve the learning and development needs of Glasgow's voluntary and community organisations, their 14,000 paid staff and the estimated 40,000 Glaswegian volunteers.
That is why Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector has based its learning teams at the Albany. Over time, GCVS intends that the Albany becomes the sector's very own place for lifelong learning activities.
At the Albany, community organisations and groups - staff, boards, and volunteers - from all parts of the city will be able to meet together, learn new skills, take part in targeted courses, fully share knowledge and good practice.
Training and Learning Services
The training team designs and delivers accessible, accredited courses for voluntary sector managers. It offers a range of tailored training and learning opportunities from half day to five-dy courses
Community Learning & Development and Literacies
GCVS works with practitioners and organisations to build skills in CLD, helping them to ensure that they can meet the needs of their communities.
We provide support, development and learning to voluntary sector literacies providers to enable them to deliver high quality literacies learning.
SVQ Assessment Centre
Scottish Vocational Qualifications are work-based qualifications which assess the skills and knowledge needed to perform jobs effectively. GCVS is approved to offer SVQs in a range of work areas.
